Milliken achieves Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver Version 5.0 for global carpet portfolio

Milliken & Company has achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver Version 5.0 for its global carpet portfolio, according to the company. The certification gives architects, designers and building owners independent validation that the products meet requirements across multiple sustainability categories, reflecting what the company described as its commitment to material health, product circularity and sustainability.

Cradle to Cradle Certified is a sustainability certification recognized in the built environment. It evaluates products across material health, product circularity, clean air and climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness. According to Milliken, its certification covers the full scope of these requirements, reflecting a comprehensive approach to product design and manufacturing.

“For many customers, sustainability information has become increasingly complex,” said Allie Bruski, vice president, product marketing for Milliken’s flooring business. “This certification provides confidence that when they specify Milliken flooring, they are choosing products that have been independently evaluated for material health, circularity, and broader sustainability performance.”

The company said the certification also reflects its history of transparency and product stewardship. For decades, Milliken has invested in helping customers better understand the materials used in its products, and it described Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver as third-party validation of that commitment.

Milliken said customers should not have to compromise on performance, comfort or design. In addition to meeting recognized sustainability standards, its flooring solutions are said to offer versatility, durability and occupant-focused benefits. The company added that its cushion-backed flooring platform supports comfort, acoustics and ergonomics.

“This achievement validates the work our teams have done to embed sustainability into the way we design and manufacture products,” said Dale Kitchen, director, research and development for Milliken’s flooring business. “It also gives customers one more reason to feel confident that Milliken flooring can help them meet both sustainability goals and performance expectations.”

Milliken & Company is a global manufacturing company focused on materials science. It develops products for its customers and communities, according to the company.
