Epic Group has formally inaugurated its Trimetro Manufacturing Campus in Khordha, Odisha – a fully integrated garment facility developed with a USD 100 million investment and designed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions and net-zero water consumption. The campus is described by the company as India’s first facility of its kind.
Spread across 40 acres and designed to produce 20 million garments annually, the facility was inaugurated by Sampad Chandra Swain, industries minister of Odisha, alongside Ranjan Mahtani, founder and chairman of Epic Group.
The campus integrates onsite and offsite solar power, biomass energy, battery storage, and energy-efficient machinery. A notable element is the use of 135°C high-temperature heat pumps – a first for the garment manufacturing industry according to the company – said to be approximately 40% more efficient than conventional electric boilers. Water management includes full wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and natural reservoir creation.
The facility is expected to generate 10,000 jobs, with 80% of roles to be filled by women. Onsite amenities include medical facilities, childcare centres, subsidized canteens, and training programmes. The campus received a USD 100 million debt financing package from the International Finance Corporation, incorporating sustainability-linked and green loan components.
