Roland DG has launched S-PG3, a new direct-to-film (DTF) ink for its TY-300i printer, aimed at improving cost efficiency, production stability and print performance for apparel decoration businesses. According to the company, the ink will be available worldwide through authorized Roland DG dealers from 24 September 2026.
Developed in response to growing demand for faster, more cost-effective DTF production, S-PG3 is designed to help businesses increase profitability without compromising quality. The company said that, when paired with the TY-300i, the ink enables users to reduce running costs, improve workflow efficiency and produce vibrant, durable graphics across a range of apparel applications.
As DTF becomes a preferred production method for custom apparel, sportswear and workwear, print businesses face pressure to maximize output while controlling operational costs. Roland DG said the TY-300i and S-PG3 combination is intended to address these challenges through reliable production performance and a lower total cost of ownership.
S-PG3 features improved ink flow characteristics and jetting stability, which the company said helps minimize nozzle misfiring and dropouts during long production runs. Its revised formulation is also said to enable more uniform ink coverage across the film surface, resulting in stronger color consistency from the first transfer to the last.
The TY-300i is equipped with dual print heads and an integrated heater, and offers production speeds of up to 10.9 m²/h. Under typical operating conditions of eight hours per day, 20 days per month and a transfer size of 300 mm x 300 mm, the printer can produce approximately 3,300 T-shirts per month, according to the company. It also integrates with finishing devices, including Graphtec and Summa cutting systems, to support high-volume production workflows.
Roland DG said S-PG3 reduces the ongoing costs of DTF production through lower ink consumption and reduced maintenance requirements. Compared with an alternative competing solution, users can achieve lower running costs while retaining the company’s color quality and production reliability, it added.
According to the company, S-PG3 has been developed to maximize the TY-300i’s color capabilities through precise ink dot control technology, enabling a wide color gamut across apparel, teamwear and promotional applications. Roland DG also stated that the combination delivers wash durability, helping garments retain their appearance throughout their lifecycle.
Ryugo Nimura, executive officer, global sales and marketing division, at Roland DG, said, “As the DTF market continues to evolve, print businesses need solutions that help them stay competitive without sacrificing quality. The combination of the TY-300i and our new S-PG3 ink delivers exactly that. Customers can achieve lower running costs, exceptional color performance and stable, continuous production from a single integrated solution. It enables businesses to produce more, produce better and improve profitability at the same time.”
