PDS partners with Indonesia’s Busana Apparel Group to expand global manufacturing footprint

PDS, the global fashion supply chain solutions company, has entered a strategic partnership between its manufacturing business and Busana Apparel Group, one of Indonesia’s apparel manufacturing companies, in a move aimed at strengthening PDS’ global manufacturing ecosystem.

The global apparel industry is witnessing a shift in sourcing dynamics, with new trade agreements, regional economic partnerships, evolving tariff structures, and the continued acceleration of China Plus One strategies reshaping global supply chains and creating opportunities for diversified manufacturing across multiple geographies. As global brands and retailers adapt to this evolving landscape, the company said, the demand for agile, resilient, and multi-country manufacturing platforms has increased.

PDS, which reported a gross merchandise value of over USD 2.2 billion, provides end-to-end solutions across design-led sourcing, manufacturing, sourcing-as-a-service, product development, and brand management, serving fashion retailers and brands.

Pallak Seth, executive vice chairman, PDS, said, “We have always believed that manufacturing is more than capacity – it is a strategic capability that creates lasting value for customers. This partnership with Busana Apparel Group reflects this philosophy, bringing together two complementary platforms to create a stronger global manufacturing ecosystem. This partnership not only broadens our manufacturing footprint but also strengthens our ability to support customers with greater flexibility, speed, innovation, and confidence in an increasingly dynamic global marketplace.”

Sanjay Jain, group chief executive officer, PDS, said, “What began as a capability supporting our sourcing platform has evolved into a strategic business in its own right, driven by sustained investments in manufacturing capacity, technology, operational excellence, and a diversified multi-country footprint. Our partnership with Busana Apparel Group marks the next step in this journey, significantly strengthening our manufacturing platform and enhancing our ability to deliver greater resilience, flexibility, scalability, and speed-to-market for global brands and retailers.”

Busana Apparel Group is among Indonesia’s apparel manufacturing companies, with annual revenues of over USD 500 million, according to the company. Busana operates manufacturing facilities across Indonesia and, through strategic ventures, has a presence in India, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Italy.

Maniwanen Marimutu, chairman of Busana Apparel Group, said, “The future of apparel belongs to those who can seamlessly combine innovation, manufacturing excellence, and global reach. Our partnership with PDS brings together highly complementary strengths to create an end-to-end platform that is well-positioned to serve the evolving needs of global brands.”

Sunil Shewakramani, chief executive officer of Busana Apparel Group, said, “As customers increasingly seek diversified, resilient, and agile supply chains, this partnership positions us to deliver greater scale, innovation, speed-to-market, and manufacturing excellence across multiple sourcing destinations. We look forward to building long-term value together and supporting our customers’ evolving global sourcing strategies.”

The partnership brings together the strengths of both organizations, which will jointly pursue opportunities with global brands and retailers seeking to diversify their sourcing footprint, while leveraging each other’s capabilities across manufacturing, product innovation, design, and customer engagement. According to the companies, this is expected to give customers access to a diversified manufacturing and customer base, greater production scale and flexibility, faster speed-to-market through an integrated global network, enhanced supply chain resilience and risk diversification, and manufacturing expertise and innovation.
