LMW LRJ 9 ring frame achieves 30,000 RPM at LS Mills in Theni

LS Mills, Theni, has commissioned 14,400 spindles on LMW LRJ 9 ring frames over the past year, achieving a spindle speed of 30,000 RPM – a performance level reached through close collaboration between LS Mills’ technical team and LMW’s engineering team.

The LRJ 9 is configured with a 65 mm gauge, which the company says results in approximately 8% less floor space compared with standard configurations. LMW claims the platform offers up to 10% higher productivity, up to 8% space savings, and up to 10% power savings when equipped with high-efficiency spindles. Additional features include a smart spinning geometry for improved twist flow, a rugged spindle rail for high-speed operation with reduced vibration, and a dual-drive drafting system for torsion-free performance.

LS Mills operates approximately 1.5 lakh spindles and produces premium combed compact yarn from Ne 40s to 180s, working with Egyptian, Indian, Organic, BCI, and Supima cotton as well as Tencel, Refibra, and other blended fibres, producing around 30 tonnes of yarn per day. The company’s vertically integrated operations span spinning, weaving, processing, and made-ups, including a stitching unit producing bed linen from 200 to 1,500 thread counts for markets across North America, Europe, and Asia.

The partnership between LMW and LS Mills spans more than four decades. The mill is said to source all its energy from renewable sources and supplies surplus green energy to other companies.
