Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition set for August 25–27 in Shanghai

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will be held from 25–27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China. This edition centers on rethinking security amid uncertainty, with a focus on emotional skills, flexibility, and social networks, set against what organizers describe as an era of constant alertness and growing disillusionment with the future.

Through the lens of Intertextile Directions Trends for Autumn/Winter 2027–28, titled ‘A Quest for Essence’, this season reflects what organizers describe as a conscious and positive mindset. It highlights the industry’s ability to cultivate alternative creativity, integrate technology and craftsmanship, and use materials as tools for sensory exploration, moving away from sameness toward authenticity and meaning.

Beyond trend-inspired textile samples, the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum will extend this theme through a collaboration between Intertextile Apparel and Notes Shanghai, a fragrance fair in Messe Frankfurt’s portfolio.

At the show, the Trend Forum will present fabrics and accessories across three themes: ‘Feel Your Serenity’, ‘Live Your Emotions’, and ‘Play Your Role’. Museative, a member of the Intertextile Directions Trend Committee, has been tasked with designing and curating the installation. Exhibitors from across the show floor will submit samples illustrating each theme, allowing visitors to browse a selection of on-trend fabrics and connect with suitable suppliers.

The trend directions were developed by Elementi Moda (Milan), Museative (New York), NellyRodi Agency (Paris), and Sachiko Inoue (Tokyo), drawing on global fashion insights and inviting designers to explore fantasy and creativity beyond neutrality, infusing the everyday with excitement.

To reflect the themes of Autumn/Winter 2027–28 and extend the sensory focus of ‘A Quest for Essence’, this edition’s Trend Forum will incorporate olfactory elements alongside its visual and tactile displays. The fair presents a collaboration between Intertextile Apparel and Notes Shanghai, an international fragrance exhibition, with fragrances supplied by dsm-firmenich. As visitors enter the space, fabrics are presented within a multi-sensory environment, where the combination of tone and fragrance is intended to influence perceptions of color psychology.
