
Galvanin, a specialty machinery manufacturer based near Venice, Italy, marks 35 years of operations with a focus on cotton bleaching technology and an expanding portfolio in textile recycling – including a patented process for separating polyester from denim waste at industrial scale.
Founded by the Galvanin family, the company designs and manufactures complete bleaching lines for medical cotton fiber, supplying integrated systems that cover the full process from raw material feeding to final bale pressing. Its equipment is installed across textile and nonwoven manufacturing regions in Turkey, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Brazil, the United States, and other markets.
The company’s core systems incorporate cotton opening and air transportation, specialized pressing equipment, an autoclave bleaching unit, centrifuges, drying equipment, and final baling. A patented basket system automatically compresses and seals material before it enters the bleaching stage, which the company says optimizes resource utilization by achieving higher material density and reducing water and chemical consumption.
Beyond cotton bleaching, Galvanin has adapted its autoclave technology to address fiber separation in textile recycling. The process uses a chemical treatment within the autoclave to remove polyester from shredded denim waste – a growing challenge as blended fabrics containing cotton, polyester, and elastane become more common in apparel. According to the company, the technology has been operating at industrial scale, processing up to 80 tons per day in commercial applications.
“Technologies capable of efficiently separating and recovering valuable fibers will play a critical role in enabling the circular economy model envisioned by the industry,” said Marcello Galvanin, president of Galvanin.
The company said demand for its equipment continues to be concentrated in Asia and the Americas, while the European market has contracted due to stricter environmental regulations and water treatment requirements. Looking ahead, the company cited sustainability and recycling as its primary growth drivers, pointing to rising brand commitments to recycled fiber content and tightening regulatory requirements as key demand factors.
